K9Solution, the Secret is OUT!:

        The K9Solution was originally developed for the highest performing animals, Greyhounds, yet may be used by any breed where the owner is wishing for higher performance. Not all supplements are created the same.

Traditionally, animal directed nutritional supplements are made from the "cheapest" ingredients they can get away with. Things are put in there for the sake of filling out an ingredients list and not necessarily because they work well or if at all. Things are put in there because the price is low, without regard to whether it does what it's supposed to do.
For example, if you read the ingredients of two vitamin bottles and see Iron listed equally in both, that does NOT necessarily mean a body can get the benefit of that iron equally from both vitamins. This is a very important concept, and one that needs to be understood.
There's going to be at least two factors at play that will dictate whether the body can effectively use what's given to it.
1) Digestibility & Absorbability: You need to know the source of the nutrient. (ex.) Iron Gluconate is much more usable for the body than Iron ammonium citrate (ammonia is actually a body waste product and causes extra work for the kidneys!). Preparation of Iron using the expensive method with gluconic acid creates an extremely small particle size that is both, water soluble and absorbable by cells. Whereas other methods of preparation might be able to hold in water as a solution, but their particle size is generally too large to be absorbed by a cell.
The same principle holds true for pretty much all the nutrient supplements. If it's an "anything" sulfate it was prepared with sulfuric acid (very large resulting particles), "anything" chloride = hydrochloric acid preparation and again large particle size, and so on.
The thing to remember is, for industrial applications the particle size is not always an issue, but if you want to use it as a nutrient… it matters greatly.

2) Balanced combinations of nutrients: Another thing that greatly affects how well a nutrient is used by the body is whether it's used in the right combination with other "helper" nutrients. Example: giving calcium is great but to really get the most out of it, you should also give boron, magnesium, zinc and copper too.
Balanced combinations work much better than giving single nutrients.
